Black Australorp

A dual purpose heritage breed originating in Australia, the Black Australorp hold the record for the most eggs laid in a year (364 eggs in 365 days), but you can expect the average hen to reliably lay 4-5 eggs per week once she begins laying.
 
These are calm, friendly chickens that are very easy to work with and integrate well into a mixed breed flock.  They are great forager, but can also take confinement well. 
 
They are both heat and cold tolerant.  
 
Hens aerage about 6lbs and Roosters about 8lbs at maturity.
