    This is the chicken that started it all here at Dragon Way Farm!  By far the friendliest breed of chicken we've ever kept, these golden beauties are definitely "pet" material.  Handle them frequently as chicks and you might very well end up with a chicken that will happily sit on your lap and enjoy being petted. 
     
    Buff Orpingtons are a dual purpose, heritage breed chicken that origionated in England.  They are extremely cold hardy and are known to lay consistently throughout the winter.  These chickens are great foragers, but are calm enough to also thrive in confinement.  This is definitely a beginner friendly breed of chicken that is easy to handle and has very little health issues.
     
    Hens are average layers of med-large brown eggs and this breed is known for going broody and being fantastic mothers.
     
    For those raising these birds for meat:  Roosters average about 10lbs and hens will mature to about 8lbs.

      We currently do not ship chicks at this time.  All purchases of live animals are farm pick-up only, or delivery may be arranged at buyer's expense.  Shortly after placing your order, we will contact you via email to coordinate a pick-up time or delivery time.

    • Health and Wellness Guarantee

      All live animals are guaranteed to be healthy at the time of sale.  Due to the fragile nature of poultry, all available quantities listed are estimates only.  Should you place an order that we cannot fill due to a qty error, we will either substitute the shortage with a similar breed or refund the purchase.
